Saving Grace and quick update on Hidden Within

I thought an update on what I’ve been up to was overdue.

Hidden Within is still out to agents. I’ve had a few nos but mostly I’m just waiting for my queries to be answered. I now understand what they mean when they say to not bother checking your inbox every fifteen minutes and to just keep writing.

So that what I’ve done. The novel formerly known as Missing Pieces is officially underway. I have renamed it Saving Grace, which I think everyone will find more fitting once you read it. I’ve just finished outlining it and started writing the first draft today. It will be something very different from Hidden Within. It’s a standalone supernatural suspense novel. I hesitate to say this (for obvious reasons), but along the lines of Stephen King, though more suspense than horror. Think The Bill Hodges Trilogy with a touch of The Shining rather than It. Eventually I will post a full description, but for right now I’m focusing on writing and doing some research. I’ve picked up a copy of Police Procedure & Investigation: A Guide for Writers by Lee Lofland to help me out. It seems promising.

I’m aiming to be done with the first draft by the end of the year, in about four months rather than the year and a half it took me to write Hidden Within. Wish me luck!
